3) With the collaboration of King Faisal Specialist Hospital And Research Center, an M.Sc. student performed his research in the genetic causes of the thyroid cancer.

4) At present, I am studying some enzymes and proteins of the camel and camel milk.

I played an instrumental role in the establishment and inauguration of the laboratory within the Biochemistry Dept., College of Science, King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This laboratory was created for the training of Graduate and Undergraduate students with the objective of providing state of the art facilities that utilized the most recent methods for clinical and biomedical experimentation.

ONGOING PROJECTS



I am currently working in the area of carnitine metabolism and the effect of renal hemodialysis on the metabolic concentrations found in Saudi chronic renal failure patients. Additionally, I am involved with several other projects, including studies into renal disease, heart diseases, Alzheimer=s disease, anticancer drugs, antimalarial drugs, heart disease and eye disease. I am also studying the role of the carnitine pathway of energy metabolism in the Arabian camel (Camelus dromedarius), in order to explore the relationship between carnitine and the camel's superior ability to subsist in the harsh desert climate compared to other animals.

CONSULTATION
1998 – 2005 :
Full time Scientific Consultant in R&D lab in Saudi Pharmaceutical Industries & Medical Appliances Corporation, Riyadh , Saudi Arabia. I was responsible in development purification protocol (down stream process) to purify therapeutic human hormone as well as establishment of QC lab for glycoprotein characterization and identification. The first stage of this Biotechnology project was at R&D lab which involves recruitment, staff training and purchasing and installation of equipments. After completion of R&D stage and writing all SOPes a pilot study was curried out. Production scale equipments were ordered, facility design (clean area) were constructed at the factory in Qassim Pharmaceutical Plant.


2005 – 2007 :
Part-time consultant at Qassim Pharmaceutical Plant (SPINACO). I work as a consultant supervising downstream process under GMP requirement. I was responsible of procedure transfer from R&D to production. Trial runs and validation patches were preformed.
